Needs and challenges:
We need an Office of Sustainability and a community organic garden on campus. We need more classes and programs invested in sustainability and learning about where our food comes from. We are working on these issues through student lead initiatives and collaborating with Bama Dining.
Successes and achievements:
Bama Dining has gone tray-less, we have a weekly farmers market near campus
comments: There is one Organic Farming class offered through New College at UA, an Interdisciplinary Studies Department. The same professor teaches a "Sustainability by Design" course. Classes drive half an hour away to use a private farm, but may not have access to this farm for much longer.
