  • Needs and challenges: Nearly all students at Pomona are required to be on the meal plan. There is a very small and active community of students involved in the campus's organic farm, and the farm has become a part of the curriculum in some Environmental Analysis classes, but the relationship between the school and the farm is pretty minimal. The farm composts food waste from one of the on campus eateries ("The Coop Fountain"), but is not involved at all with our dining hall services. There is also a history of a certain amount of hostility between the school's administration and the students involved in the farm, although that is beginning to change as food politics becomes more hip- school administrators has never shown real support for the farm. Needs on the farm: more funding, more integration with the school's educational programs and dining services, more student involvement...
  • Food activities: student farm/garden, academic programs, student organizations
  • Farm functions: research, other educational, food consumed by volunteers
  • Relevant academic programs: Course(s) offered, Research, Internships, Extracurricular Activities, Student-run programs
